June No-Buy

Image from  Google

Yes, you read the post title correctly. I am doing a no buy for the month of June. If you don't know what a no-buy is, it is basically a challenge to not buy any new makeup besides replacing things you already have like makeup wipes. I need to start saving some money to pay for my MBA classes, so a no buy is the perfect thing.  I don't tend to buy a lot of makeup to begin with but this will prevent my from splurging on new makeup and force me to try and use up the makeup that I currently have in my collection.

Have you ever done a makeup no-buy?

Wedding Update | Honeymoon, Bridal Shower, etc.

Hi everyone! I have a few wedding updates to share with you all. We have been very busy with planning as the wedding is less than 5 months away!! In April, we booked our hair dresser, who will also be doing our makeup the day of the wedding. I decided to go with a local salon that I went to before and their prices are not bad for hair and makeup! I also ordered my headpiece for the wedding. I have decided to wear a hand band instead of a veil because I really like the vintage look. I ordered mine from an Etsy shop called Lola & Madison.

Earlier this week I met with my mom, grandmom, and sisters to discuss my bridal shower. The shower is going to be a Saturday in August, which is two months before my wedding. We are going to have a luncheon at a local restaurant and we are inviting about 20 guests.

As for the most exciting part, we booked our honeymoon!! We are going to be staying in Los Angeles, California from October 26th to October 31st, 2015. I am so excited!  We won't actually be staying in LA, but at a hotel near LA. We booked our flights, hotel, and rental car. If you have any suggestions of places we should go, places to eat, etc. please leave them in the comments below!

Unboxing: Julep Maven April 2015

Photos taken with my iPhone 6

Another month, another Julep Maven box. Today I am doing a quick unboxing of my April Julep Maven box.

This is what you see what you open the box. This is the Paradise collection, which is very fitting considering a lot of college kids are on spring break this time of year. The nail polishes I received are in the colors Jenna, which is a very bright orange color, and Connie, which is a  deep blueish purple. I think I will get a lot of use out of these colors this spring and summer! The final makeup product I received is the 'lock down your brows' iconic clear brow gel. I was just thinking that I need to start incorporating a brow routine in my daily makeup, so this came at the perfect time. I think this is one of my favorite boxes I have received so far!

Tips for Choosing an Apartment

Welcome back to the blog. Today I am going to share with you some tips and questions to ask yourself when choosing an apartment, whether it be your first apartment out of college or moving into a new apartment.

Any maintenance responsibilities?
What is the length of lease? Is it month to month?
Are there any penalties if you break your lease?

Does your apartment include parking or do you have to park on street?

Garnier Moisture Renew Refreshing Gel Cream: A Review

Picture taken with iPhone 6

The past few months have brutally cold in upstate New York and my skin had decided to become very dry from the dry air. I picked this up a few weeks ago from CVS because I wanted something to help with my dry skin. This moisturizer from Garnier is supposed to "lock in moisture for 24 hours and smooth the skin". It is dermatologist tested, oil free, won't clog pored, gentle to skin, allergy tested and non-greasy.  This product contains antioxidant fruit fruit water which is supposed to renew the skins natural functions.

So do I like this moisturizer? Yes! It has definitely helped renew my skin and make it less dry and cracked. It has a slight scent but goes away after you apply to the face. It also has a nice cooling sensation.
Would I repurchase? Yes!
Do I recommend? Yes!

What moisturizer are you currently using?

Unboxing | Julep Maven Box March 2015

I decided this month instead of making an unboxing video, to make an unboxing blog post! Today I am sharing with you my Julep Maven Box for March 2015

Before I begin the unboxing, here is a little background on Julep: Julep was founded as a nail parlor in 2007 and has now expanded as a beauty brand. Every month Julep releases a new collection products and customers receive up to $40 dollars worth of products in their monthly boxes. You can choose what products you would like to to receive or have Julep pick products for you based on the survey you complete when you sign up for a subscription.  Customers also have the options of buying products from Julep's online store.

Light on Your Lips Full coverage Creme Lipstick in Stepping Out ($22.00, $17.50 for Maven)

Sorry about the crazy lighting
This lipstick is a full coverage creme lipstick that contains weightless rich pigments and age-defying Power Cell Complex. It is supposed to go on flawlessly and feel weightless. I decided to try this out for the blog and I have to say I love how this feels on my lips. It has more off a matte finish and I think it looks nice with my skin tone. I also love the packaging because it has magnetic closure for the lid, so you don't have to worry about it falling off in your makeup bag.

LuLu - Class with a Twist ($14.00, $11.00 for Mavens)

This polish is described on Julep's website as being Wisteria mist soft focus color. It has a silk/satin finish and it is a breathable polish. That means it dries super fast and allows 30% more oxygen to permeate the nail bed. It is also supposed to make your nails harder and stronger. This color is perfect for Spring and Easter!

Jahnavi - Classic with a Twist ($14.00, $11.20 for Mavens)

This gorgeous polish is described as being an iced chai chrome color and you all know how much I LOVE me some Iced Chai in the warmer weather! This polish has a metallic/chrome finish and has the same formula as LuLu. I cannot wait to try out this polish because it looks like the perfect color for everyday day for school or work. It would also look nice for special occasions.

Total Approximate Value: $39.90

What do you think of my Julep Maven Box? Would you purchase anything from the POP! Collection?

Life Update: Elizabeth Kathrynx

Hey guys! I know I have been extremely inconsistent with blogging lately but I have been busy lately and trying to put more energy into my Youtube channel.  So, I wanted to post a little life/blog update.

Like I mentioned, I stopped blogging regularly because I wanted to focus all my energy into my Youtube channel. I am working really hard and want to try and reach 1,000 subscribers.

As for as quick wedding update, we booked our cake baker! There are quite a few things I need to start doing in March/April. Next weekend I am going bridesmaid dress shopping with my sisters. I need to figure out bra/undies, shoes, hair, veil situation for myself. We need to find a hair/makeup person for the wedding. My fiance needs to go tuxedo shopping and list goes on...

We also have been going back and forth on our living situation. My current lease is up at the end of May and we don't know if we should try to move to another apartment or continue to live here for a couple years until we are ready to buy a house/condo.

Hope you guys are having a great start to 2015 and here are a few of my recent videos:

Que Bella Purifying Tee Tree and Witch Havel Mud Mask: A Review

My skin is currently super broken out and dry from this extremely cold weather, so I didn't try out one of these Que Bella masks that I picked up at Target a few months ago. The mask I tried out is the Que Bella Purifying Tea Tree and Witch Hazel mud mask. This mask is supposed to draw out impurities and make your skin feel revived, which is perfect for the current condition of my skin. This mask doesn't have a very strong smell when you apply to the face. It hardens in about 10-15 minutes. You can feel the tea tree and witch hazel working on your skin. Overall, I recommend this someone who has acne-prone skin. These are extremely affordable, but I have only been able to find these masks at Target.

What is your favorite face mask?

First Impressions: L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara

Hi everybody! Today I wanted to share with you a first impression of the L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara. I got this mascara in my Target Women's Beauty Box for Winter 2014. First of all I really like the packaging of this mascara. It is very sleek and easy to use. The wand also comes separate from the mascara itself, so that is a plus in my book. I like the formula of this mascara, it isn't too dry or too wet. I didn't really notice this mascara doing a whole lot for my lashes. They didn't really get a lot of volume or length and I didn't like how it makes my lashes look clumped together, almost spidery.
If I had to rate this mascara, I would give it a 3.5/5

Did you like this mascara?

My Birthday Wishlist

*some links are affiliate links*

My 25th birthday is February 17th and here are a few things on my birthday wish list:

iMac - My current MacBook Pro is about to hit the pan, so I would love to invest in a brand new desktop computer from Apple. The model I want is the 21.5 inch, 2.7 GHz! It a hefty price of $1299.00 but it would be well worth the splurge because my current laptop has lasted almost 5 years!

Ikea Micke Desk - I currently have the Leksvik desk and don't get me wrong I love it, but it takes up way too much space in my small apartment. My fiance is moving in with me soon and we are going to convert my spare room into in office. We will need to fit two desks, a tv stand, and some shelves, so I want to downsize to a more compact desk, that also has more storage than my current one.

Milk Frother - I really want to be able to make Chai Tea Lattes at home and I forget who I watched on YouTube but I really want to get a milk frother to make the yummy foam!

Alex & Ani bracelets - I want to grow my collection of these trendy bracelets. I want three in particular, the E Initial, the Aquarius bangle, and the February Birthstone bangle.

Fresh Start: Healthy Living

For Christmas, my sister purchased me a few products from her nutrition program to help jump start my new healthy lifestyle. My main goal this year is to get healthy and in shape. My wedding is in 9 months and I would really like to get toned and fit.

Since starting this program, I have noticed that my face looks puffy. I have also noticed that my middle section looks less bloated. These are the exact things that I have been looking to improve in myself this year. This best part about this program is that it is NOT a diet. It is a lifestyle change.

My typical diet everyday includes the following:
-A meal replacement protein shake or protein bar
-A mid-morning snack, usually a Fiber One Brownie Bar
-Lunch is usually a Smart Ones Frozen Meal or a can of soup
-Afternoon snack, usually a rice cake
-Dinner is whatever I feel like eating
-I take 1-2 oz of the cleanse drink every night before I go to bed

My current weight is 140 lbs. I am hoping to lose 10 pounds before I do my wedding dress fittings this summer. I do notice this program is working on making me healthier because three people in my office have come down with terrible viral infections and I have not gotten sick yet!

Valentine's Day Tag (Collab)

Hi everybody! I know this post might be going up a little bit early as Valentine's Day is still a little bit over a month away, but I collaborated with Avianne from The Body Silk Blog and to create this tag! Feel free do to do this tag and leave your posts in the comments below! Here are the questions:

  • Homemade or store-bought gifts? I don't really have a preference to be honest but homemade gifts are always add more of a personal touch to a gift

  • Favorite Romantic/Love Movie? My favorite has to be Love Actually

  • Favorite Love Song? I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz or A Thousand Years by Christina Perri

  • Who is your celebrity crush? Shemar Moore from Criminal Minds is good looking man

  • Red or pink lipstick?I don't really wear lipstick but I would probably choose a nude pink

  • Do you decorate for valentine's day? I like to decorate but I don't have a ton of decorations. I definitely need to pick up some cute things this year from Target or HomeGoods.

  • Favorite brand of chocolate? Lindt

  • Single pringle or taken bacon? taken bacon, getting married on October 24, 2015!!

  • What did you wear last valentine's day? We didn't do anything special for valentine's day last year, so it was just a casual outfit, jeans and a sweater

  • Favorite Valentine's day memory? I don't have many good memories of valentine's day but I always like getting little goodie bags from my mom

Happy Valentine's Day!

Some of My Favorite Snacks

These are some of my favorite snacks to bring to work and they are all better for you than something out of the vending machine at your office, college, etc.

Special K Cracker Chips - These are so delicious and 25 chips is only 120 calories!
Almonds - Probably one of the best snacks for you. Eat as many as you like!
Fiber One Brownie Bars - I enjoy these as a mid-morning snack and they are only 90 calories!

What are your favorite snack foods?

Influenster Dry Spray VoxBox Review

Thanks to Influenster, I got the opportunity to try out this awesome new deodorant by Degree. It is a spray-on deodorant that is supposed to last up to 48 hours! Here are a few of my thoughts on this product. First, I like the sleek design of the can so it doesn't take up a lot of space on my vanity. Second, it smells so good! There's nothing worse than having smelly arm pits and this stuff does not disappoint! I wore it to work and I didn't have to reapply it all day! It also had a cooling sensation when you it apply it as well. One can is supposed to last up to 8 weeks, so we'll see if it really last that long.
Degree DrySpray retails for approximately $4.99 at your local Walmart

Would you try this product?

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes
