First Impressions: L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara

Hi everybody! Today I wanted to share with you a first impression of the L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara. I got this mascara in my Target Women's Beauty Box for Winter 2014. First of all I really like the packaging of this mascara. It is very sleek and easy to use. The wand also comes separate from the mascara itself, so that is a plus in my book. I like the formula of this mascara, it isn't too dry or too wet. I didn't really notice this mascara doing a whole lot for my lashes. They didn't really get a lot of volume or length and I didn't like how it makes my lashes look clumped together, almost spidery.
If I had to rate this mascara, I would give it a 3.5/5

Did you like this mascara?

Review: Rimmel Max Bold Curves VS Covergirl Clump Crusher

Hello beauties and thanks for stopped by! Today I am going to do a comparison review of the Rimmel Max Bold Curves mascara to the Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara. I am a huge mascara fan and it is essential to my daily makeup routine.

The Rimmel Max Bold Curves mascara is a newer additional to my collection. I got it in a makeup swap a little bit ago and have been using it ever since. I am not the biggest fan of this mascara for a couple reasons. First, it is extremely clumpy and messy to apply. I usually have to use a tissue on the brush to remove excess product before applying to my lashes. Second, the wand is too big. I struggle applying this without getting mascara all over my face, which you can see in the above picture. It also doesn't do a good job at curling or lengthening my lashes, except my lower lashes; it works well on the lower lashes.  It claims to do the opposite of everything it is lacking.
This retails for around $7.00 dollars.

The Covergirl Clump Crusher has been in my makeup collection since last summer. I absolutely adore this mascara. I have never had an issue with it being clumpy or messy to apply. It really gives your lashes that extra something, especially if your curl them prior to applying the product. The mascara does an excellent job at curling and lengthening my lashes. This retails for around $8.00 dollars.

So, I think it is very clear that the Covergirl Clump Clusher is the winner here. The Rimmel mascara just doesn't compare to the Covergirl mascara. It is messy, clumpy, and hard to work with. I guess I am onto looking for a better and greater mascara than the Covergirl Clump Crusher.

Guest post: Autumn Make-up

This post was written by the lovely Emily over at Beauty by Emily. She is an avid beauty blogger and Professional Makeup Artist!

Autumn is finally in full swing here in the UK, I've swapped my thin cardigans for jumpers, sandals to boots and even added tights into my regime, but its not just our clothes we need to transition from summer to winter our make-up has to follow suit too. Here is a sneak peak into my Autumn transition make-up to match the weather outside.

If you're not ready to ditch the tinted foundation and BB creams for full coverage just yet, try a sheer foundation with skin benefits in such as the Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation or Bare Minerals OrginalFoundation.  Both these foundations offer a sheer yet buildable coverage that imitates flawless summer skin with their dewy finish. Don't worry about  that little bit of oil seeping through, on us oil girls may be a blessing in disguise when trying to recreate a summer glow. On top of that application is a doddle, I recommend using a big fluffy blending brush for the powder foundation and liquid, if you are looking for a more subtle liquid foundation look use a wet beauty blender sponge and stipple the foundation into your skin.

Staying with your base for a moment longer, blusher is key to change in the colder months. Unfortunately this does mean no more coral tones but adding cool tones back into your skin. Hervana blusher by Benefit is a universally flatting blusher on all skin tones due to its mixture of pigments. Lucky for us all there is a hint of coral and pink in Hervana blusher so we don't have to jump ship to a purple tones blusher just yet.

We all know the start of Autumn in the UK by the swarm of wind and drizzle, or in some cases floods of rain like I have seen, therefore we need to swap to a waterproof mascara. Now most brands do a waterproof version of their mascara so there is no need to jump ship too far when switching up your Autumn make-upbag. My personal favourite is Rimmel Scandleyes Waterproof just because I'm in love with the wand and formula of that mascara. Other brands such as Loreal and their Telescopic Mascara and Bourjous all offer waterproof versions of their iconic mascaras. Just make sure you swap quickly before you get caught out because not many of us can rock that panda look.

Finally your lips, It's time again to say goodbye to those corals and bright pinks for a more practical nude. Now by all meansif you are feeling up to it, rock the dark lip trend this Autumn with Rimmel London Kate Moss lipstick in 04. But if like me you just aren't prepared to go all out everyday, a nude lip is your middle ground. My favourite and must have is Venus by MAC. A cool toned pinky- nude offering a combination between matte and cremesheen is perfect to pop on over your lip balm. This is definitely one to pop into your work bag for a touch up after lunchtime.

June 2013 Favorites!

I only have five favorites for this month of June because I was transitioning into apartment living.
The products:
1) Clean & Clear essentials foaming facial cleanser - I like this for several reasons. First, because it does not break me out or dry out my skin. Second, it is a great price. I bought mine on sale for less than $5 dollars!
2) Bath & Body Works Ocean Citrus Anti-Bac Hand Soap - I bought this on sale for $3 dollars during Bath & Body Works Semi-Annual sale and it smells amazing! It also matches the color scheme of my bathroom, blues!
3) Bath & Body Works White Citrus Body Spray - This is my favorite body spray at the moment, it is such a fresh scent!
4) Sephora Instant Eye Makeup Remover - This stuff actually works! I am starting to fall in love with Sephora's collection of products! It will take me a LONG time to finish this product because a little goes a long way!
5) Covergirl Clump Crusher Waterproof Mascara - This mascara does a great job at lengthening and voluminzing my lashes but it is the farthest from being waterproof! I would not use this is you are looking for a waterproof mascara but besides that it's a really great mascara from the drugstore!

What are your June favorites??

Review: Rimmel Waterproof Sexy Curves Mascara

Last week I took a small road-trip to Northern Vermont for a job interview and stopped in a local drugstore to pick u some snacks for my night at the hotel. I was browsing the makeup section and found this mascara on sale for $3.44 dollars.

Rimmel Waterproof Sexy Curves Mascara
First off, I love the packaging, it is very slim and the color is just gorgeous!

wand
This is the part of the mascara I don't like - the wand! As you can see above, the wand has a very odd shape that makes this mascara very difficult to work with!

Here are the before and after pictures:

before mascara
Before applying mascara, curled lashes

with mascara
After applying mascara

As you can see there isn't a huge difference in the appearance of my lashes. My lashes do appear to be slightly longer but they don't have any added volume. The only way I found I could work with this mascara was by moving the wand in a back-and-forth motion up and down my lashes. The "normal" way I apply mascara didn't work. I also don't like how this mascara can be clumpy if you dont comb out your lashes right after applying the mascara.

Final Thoughts: It isn't the greatest mascara in the world and I have tried other drugstore mascaras that have given me better results.

I want to know if you have tried this mascara and had any better luck than I had?
