Guest post: Autumn Make-up

This post was written by the lovely Emily over at Beauty by Emily. She is an avid beauty blogger and Professional Makeup Artist!

Autumn is finally in full swing here in the UK, I've swapped my thin cardigans for jumpers, sandals to boots and even added tights into my regime, but its not just our clothes we need to transition from summer to winter our make-up has to follow suit too. Here is a sneak peak into my Autumn transition make-up to match the weather outside.

If you're not ready to ditch the tinted foundation and BB creams for full coverage just yet, try a sheer foundation with skin benefits in such as the Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation or Bare Minerals OrginalFoundation.  Both these foundations offer a sheer yet buildable coverage that imitates flawless summer skin with their dewy finish. Don't worry about  that little bit of oil seeping through, on us oil girls may be a blessing in disguise when trying to recreate a summer glow. On top of that application is a doddle, I recommend using a big fluffy blending brush for the powder foundation and liquid, if you are looking for a more subtle liquid foundation look use a wet beauty blender sponge and stipple the foundation into your skin.

Staying with your base for a moment longer, blusher is key to change in the colder months. Unfortunately this does mean no more coral tones but adding cool tones back into your skin. Hervana blusher by Benefit is a universally flatting blusher on all skin tones due to its mixture of pigments. Lucky for us all there is a hint of coral and pink in Hervana blusher so we don't have to jump ship to a purple tones blusher just yet.

We all know the start of Autumn in the UK by the swarm of wind and drizzle, or in some cases floods of rain like I have seen, therefore we need to swap to a waterproof mascara. Now most brands do a waterproof version of their mascara so there is no need to jump ship too far when switching up your Autumn make-upbag. My personal favourite is Rimmel Scandleyes Waterproof just because I'm in love with the wand and formula of that mascara. Other brands such as Loreal and their Telescopic Mascara and Bourjous all offer waterproof versions of their iconic mascaras. Just make sure you swap quickly before you get caught out because not many of us can rock that panda look.

Finally your lips, It's time again to say goodbye to those corals and bright pinks for a more practical nude. Now by all meansif you are feeling up to it, rock the dark lip trend this Autumn with Rimmel London Kate Moss lipstick in 04. But if like me you just aren't prepared to go all out everyday, a nude lip is your middle ground. My favourite and must have is Venus by MAC. A cool toned pinky- nude offering a combination between matte and cremesheen is perfect to pop on over your lip balm. This is definitely one to pop into your work bag for a touch up after lunchtime.
