2015 New Year's Resolution

As we all know January 1st is right around the corner and everybody will be making their resolutions for the new year. I read an awesome article (this one too) that talks about resolutions every 20-something should make and here are my goals/resolutions for 2015:

  1. Get into Shape/Eat Healthier: I think these are on everybody's resolutions but I am getting married in 2015, so I would really like to lose a few pounds before my wedding. I will try to do this by taking the stair more often and parking further away in parking lots.
  2. Spend More Time with Family: This is a big one. Once I am married, I will be spending the majority of the time with my future husband.
  3. Save Money: This is a big one for everybody. I would like to build up my savings even more, so I have they money when it comes time to get a new car or put a down payment on a house/townhouse/condo/etc.
  4. Travel to New Places: We are planning on going to California for our honeymoon, so that is a new place for me. I have never been to the west coast, let alone west of Buffalo, NY.
  5. Get Organized: My fiance is moving in with me in the Spring, so I need to get rid of the clutter and junk I have, to make room for all of his things.
  6. Turn Off the iPhone: This is a hard challenge. My goal is spend less time of the phone and more time interacting with friends and family. I'd also like to not sit in bed looking through my phone right before bed.
  7. Do more Chores: I want to develop a habit of cleaning my apartment, like vacuuming on Wednesdays or Dusting on Sundays.
  8. Drink less coffee:  This is a bold challenge for me but I want to drink more green tea and water.
  9. Make one video and one blogpost a week: I have been very sporadic in 2014 with my blog and videos. I want to try to focus more on consistency and quality rather than just putting up something.
  10. Floss more often: This is a habit I need to break. I want to start flossing more consistently.

What are your resolutions for 2015?

Ways to Fight the Common Cold

Over the past week, I have had come down with a cold. I had a stuffy nose, sore throat, etc.
Here are the things I have done this week to try and fight off this cold:

  • Eat Chicken Noodle Soup
  • Drinks lots of fluids, such as Orange Juice, Tea, Water, etc.
  • Takes lots and lots of Vitamin C! I recommend Emergen-C Super Orange
  • Take Zinc when you start feeling sick, it helps support your immune system
  • Use a Humidifier when you sleep to help aid in your congestion
  • Take a hot bath or shower, the steam will help open up your sinuses
  • Rub  Vicks Vaporub on your chest and below your nose, it helps you breathe better
  • Rest! The number one thing you need when you have a cold is rest!
  • Only see your Doctor if the symptoms last more than seven (7) days, you may have a sinus infection or something worse that may need to be treated by antibiotics

Hope this helps if you are currently fighting the common cold

My First SampleSource Box

Long time no see! I have been sick all week with an autumn cold. Today I am finally sharing with you my first SampleSource box. If you don't know what SampleSource is, they are a company that send you free samples to try and then you have to fill out a survey a few week after you review your samples. It is very similar to Influenster except you get to choose what you receive in your box and it is first come, first server. I signed up a little late for this round of samples and as you can see above, I didn't get a whole heck of a lot to sample.  SampleSource is currently available for both USA and Canada! If you interested, just visit www.samplesource.com

My thoughts on Interstellar

Last night I saw Interstellar with my fiance.  We saw the movie in an RPX theater, which it supposed to enhance the sounds experience of the movie. I thought it did. After seeing the movie, I didn't know that Christopher Nolan and his brother wrote this film. I thought the acting, special effects, and score were the highlights of this file. During the big scenes, you didn't expect to hear organs roaring in the background music, so props to Hans Zimmer on another brilliant score. I thought the plot was good but very confusing at the same time. It had a lot of concepts that were difficult to understand. My favorite character was TARS, the robot, which was probably unintentional by Nolan. It was also very weird to see Matt Damon and Michael Cane playing the bad guys.
Overall, I recommend going to see this movie.

Easy Breakfast: Special K Protein Breakfast Shake

I am not a morning person at all. I found these Special K Protein Breakfast Shakes at my local grocery store and they have a changed my eating habits in the morning. I used to be making trips to Dunkin Donuts or others coffee shops everyday eating crap for breakfast but now I am trying to be healthier. These shakes are so easy, all you have to do is refrigerate and shake! I also love these because they contain as much caffeine as a cup of coffee! These are a staple in my diet! They taste just like a cappuccino and they are the perfect consistency! If you're looking for quick and healthy alternative, you HAVE to try these Special K Protein shakes! They are 180 calories and contain a 1/3 of your daily value of key vitamins and minerals.

You can buy a four pack for about $7.00 USD

What do you like to eat or drink for breakfast?

When I got this nail polish in my Julep Box, I got really excited! I love polishes that are this pink-red tone. I didn't do a very good job on painting my nails but this color was amazing! I love the formula and it was opaque in one coat!
I can't wait to use the rest of my Julep polishes!

Outfit of the Day [October 10, 2014]

*some links are affiliate links*

Sweater: Old Navy
Cropped Pants: JC Penney
Black Flats: Marshalls
Bracelet: Jewelmint
Purse: Vera Bradley

I hope you have all had a great October so far! Mine has been pretty boring but I am hoping that will change over the next several weeks! Today I wore a pretty basic outfit, featuring a sweater from Old Navy and a pari of cropper pants from Jc Penney. These are really cropped but because I am only 5'2" they are normal length for me. I decided to wear minimal jewelry and just stick to a bracelet and my engagement ring.  P.S. I am working on rearranging my spare room :)

Do you have any exciting weekend plans?

Weekend Getaway: York, Maine

This past weekend we took a trip to York, Maine. I have gone to York many times in the past for family vacations and wanted to go back for a long weekend with my fiance. We stayed at a lovely inn about 5 minutes away from the beach. We also took a drive to Nubble Lighthouse and Perkins Cove. It is a great place to go year-round with your family and friends. There are two beaches to visit, Long Sands Beach and Short Sands Beach. There is shopping in York Village, as well as the Kittery Outlets not too far away.

Have you ever been to York, Maine?

Review: Degree Motion Sense Deodorant in Fresh Energy

Thanks to Influenster, I got the opportunity to try out the Degree Motion Sense deodorant over the past couple weeks, so here is my quick and dirty review:

  • The scent is very fresh and not too overbearing
  • Last for quite a long time. I put this on in the morning when I go to work around 7:00AM and I don't have to reapply again until the late afternoon, which I think it very impressive.
  • It does not irritate my underarm skin.
  • It doesn't leave marks on your clothing, like other deodorants can do
  • It helps keep my underarm sweat at bay
  • I wear it before I go to the gym and it really helps keep me feeling fresh through a workout!
Overall, I really enjoy this product and encourage everybody to try it out!

How do you #DOMORE with Degree?
