Get to Know Me: Beauty Blogger Tag

Hi everybody! I know I have been lacking in both the youtube and blogging worlds, but today I wanted to do this simple post so you could get to know me a bit better! I saw Amie over on Belle-amie  do this post and thought is was the perfect fit for my blog!

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?

My hair is very curly. It is also very thick, which makes it impossible to work with. Unless I invest in a good hair straightener, it doesn't straighten very easily.

2. Do you dye your hair yourself or go to a salon?

I have only dyed my hair a few times in my life and it was all at home, using store-bought dyes. I have had black hair, auburn hair, and even highlights.

3. Do you wear the same style everyday, or do you change it?

I usually wear my hair up in a pony tail everyday. Sometimes I'll wear a headband to change things up a bit.

4. Do you do your own manicures and pedicures or do you go to a salon?

I have only had my nails done twice at a salon, one from Prom and one with my sister. I usually just do them at home because it's cheaper.

5. How often do you change your nail polish?

I usually change it 1-2 times per week depending on how chipped it is

6. Do you paint your toes in the Winter or just in the Summer?

II paint my toes all year long. Plus, in the winter in can last forever!

7. Do you plan your outfit of the day the night before or just decide when getting dressed?

I always pick my clothes out in the morning when I get ready for work. I rarely decide the night before what I am going to wear unless I come up with a cool outfit idea.

8. How often do you change of your handbag?

I would say I switch it up maybe every few months. If I buy a new bag, I tend to use it for a while before reverting back to a different bag. In the spring/summer, I change them up more.

9. How long does it take you to put on your makeup?

It usually only takes me 5-10 minutes because I don't do a full "face" routine of foundation, concealer, etc.

10. What do you do first? Face or eyes?

If I actually were to wear face makeup (which I do on rare occasions), I always do my face makeup first.

11. Do you collect makeup or do you just buy what you need when you need it?

I would say I am in the middle of the aisle here. I have a much smaller collection than I use to because I gave away a lot of makeup and threw out makeup that was old and/or expired. I like trying new products, so every so often I will pick up some new things.

12. How often do you wear false eyelashes?

I have never worn fake eyelashes and don't think I would have the patience to every wear them.

13. Do you wear a full face of makeup everyday?

I would say 90% of the time I wear a full face of makeup. For me, that would consist of: primer, powder, eyeshadow, mascara and a lip balm. I rarely wear a bb cream, unless my skin is looking dreaful.

14. Will you leave the house without makeup?

Yes! I usually do this on weekends when I am running errands.

15. How many high end products do you own?

I own a few. I have a couple MAC lipsticks, a lot of Urban Decay eyeliners, and a few eyeshadows palettes and eyeshadow singles. I think the only high ends brands I have are MAC, Urban Decay, and theBalm.

16. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?

Typically, I got to bed around 10:00-10:30PM every night. I have issues in the morning, so I will wake up around 6:30AM. I actually set three alarms on my phone to help get my out of bed in the morning. 

17. How many pets do you have?

Right now, I have none. My landlord only allows cats. But, at my parents house, we have a dog named george.

18. How often are you on Blogger?

I actually prefer to read posts on Bloglovin, so I am only on Blogger when I am working on posts.

19. Do you read comments posted on blogs?

If the post I am reading is very interesting, yes I tend to read the comments. I always try to reply to your comments on my blog, even if it is a simple 'thank you'

20. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?

I have this on my About Me page, but I currently use the Canon Powershot ELPH 300 HS. It is a simple point and shoot digital camera. I want to upgrade to a better camera very soon. I am very interested in the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS 12MP Digital Camera with 2.8-Inch LCD (Black)

Products I've Used Up - Fall 2013

I love doing these types of videos because you mini reviews of each product the blogger/vlogger has recently used up. It's also a huge accomplishment for me to use up products because then I can go out and buy new products to try out! In this video, I have used up some makeup wipes, mascaras, body wash, face wash & hair spray!

NOTD: Covergirl Outlast in Rouge Red

Today's post featured a new nail polish I picked up from Rite Aid. This is the Covergirl Outlast polish in Rouge Red #610. It is one of the best drugstore polishes I have ever owned! It was opaque in one coat and I added a second just to try it! It has the perfect formula and dried nearly instantly! I also think this polish is perfect for fall! I now want to try more polishes by Covergirl because they nailed it!

Drugstore Haul - October 2013

Hi ladies! I went to the drugstore on Friday after work and picked up some new goodies!
I am so sorry I haven't been uploading videos as frequently lately but I have been sick for the past two weeks and am finally starting to feel better! Don't forget to enter my philosophy giveaway, which ends this Sunday, October 13th!

The Autumn Tag!

I love doing Tags, so thought I would take part. Here are my answers:

For Autumn, what is your...

1.  Favourite thing about it?  I love Fall! My favorite things about autumn are going to fall festivals, hay rides, pumpkin/apple picking, etc.

2.  Favourite drink?  Chai Tea Latte 

3.  Favourite scent/candle?  I love Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin from Bath&Body Works

4.  Best lipstick?  I don't really wear lipstick but I always gravitate to using more lip balms in the fall season

5.  Go to moisturizer?  Currently, my go-to moisturizer is the Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer

6.  Go to colors for the eyes?  Recently, I have been loving my Cover Girl Shimmering Sands palette, that I picked up at the drugstore. It has three wonderful neutral shades that are great for everyday looks

7.  Favorite music or band/singer to listen to?  My favorite singer is Christina Perri! I also love Sara Bareilles...

8.  Favorite outfit to wear (i.e. boots & a scarf combo)?  A big sweater and yoga pants

9.  Autumn treat?  Fresh Cider Donuts from a local farm stand

10.  Favorite place to be?  At a park for a festival or curled up on the couch watching football! Go New England Patriots!

I picked up this nail polish a few months ago at Target (it was on clearance for $0.88 cents) and finally got around to wearing it! It is a beautiful green color, perfect for the spring and summer seasons, although I could see it being worn all year round! These Color Show nail polishes have the most amazing formula! They are also opaque in two coats. I paired this polish with my Beauty Secrets Top Coat, which you can purchase at Sallys Beauty Supply. I highly recommend these polishes and they are one of my favorites from the drugstore!

1. Name a beauty regime that you rarely do.
I don't do a very good job at maintaining my eyebrows. I get them waxed every 6-8 weeks and rarely pluck them.
2. Is washing your make-up brushes something you do regularly?
I wish! I am so lazy when it comes to washing my brushes.
3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?
It honestly depends on how bad they are chipped. It like half of the polish on one nail is gone, then yes, I will redo them.
4. How long do you put off buying/ replacing a beauty or nail polish product, even if you need it? (e.g. purchasing a new top coat or foundation)
I will usually buy a replacement before I run out of the product, that way I won't be scrambling to use something I like that is so,so or I don't like.
5. What is your worst beauty habit?
Touching my face. I know this is a terrible habit and cause your skin to breakout but it is just an old habit that need to die!
6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off all the time.
Do the dishes. I will wait until the sink is full to do them, else I will leave them until the last minute when I cant find a space to put other dirty dishes.
7. When going out somewhere do you leave getting ready to last minute or not?
Yes. I don't wear a ton of makeup, so it usually only takes me 15-20 minutes to get ready and be out the door.
8. Can you commit to a spending ban?
I have done this before and I don't buy as much as I used to because I have my own apartment now and can't be foolishly spending my money.
9. How organised is your make-up and nail polish collection?

10. What is the longest amount of time you have gone without writing a blog post?
I think about maybe a couple weeks at the longest when I was either too busy or had no motivation.

Beauty Blogger HQ March Task: Photo & Video Editing!

This month's task is all about photo and video editing, which is a fairly popular topic in the blogger/vlogging universe.

• What program(s) have you used in the past for editing your photos and/or videos? Can you provide a short review, likes/dislikes? I used to used Windows Movie Maker and Paint to edit my photos and/or videos.  Paint is limited in what it can do for a photo and movie maker doesn't have the best transitions or background music.
• What program(s) are you currently using for editing your photos and/or videos? Can you provide a short review, likes/dislikes? I currently use iMovie to edit my videos. It is very easy to use and can really amp up your videos if you are a beginner. For photos, if I do anything fancy with them I typically use PicMonkey to edit. It is free and very easy to use.
• What are your thoughts on image editing websites; free or purchased? I am not all the big into photography, I don't have a super fancy DSLr camera, so I don't feel the need for a powder editing program. Maybe someday, if I invest in a good camera, I might invest in a good editing program.
• What are your thoughts on editing videos directly on Youtube's website? Plain and simple, it is terrible!
• Do you use photography or video apps on your smartphone? I currently do not have a smartphone but I will very soon be getting an iPhone!
• What program(s) would you recommend for beginner bloggers? I recommend iMovie for editing videos and PicMonkey for editing photos.
• What is your editing process like? Do you edit individual pieces or schedule a day for all your editing? I am very sporadic when it comes to editing. I usually work on my videos and/or blog posts on the weekend, so I usually will spend a few hours on Saturday and Sunday filming and editing.
• On average, how much time do you think you spend on editing images and videos in a week? I would say around five hours a week, maybe more depending on the amount of content I have for my blog/youtube channel.
• For fun, show us some before and after examples from when you first started blogging/vlogging and what your current content looks like.

February Task: Blogger's Office & Organization

February's Beauty Blogger Task  is all about blogger organization and office space.

• Where do you blog? I typically blog in my bedroom. I will sometimes sit at my desk. I usually  sit on my bed. I would love to be organized in how I blog eventually when I get my own place, to maybe even have an office/room dedicated to blogging and videos would be amazing! But for now, I have to deal with the space I have been given.
• What do you blog on? I blog on my laptop, which is a MacBook Pro 13". I also use it to edit and upload my YouTube videos.
• Do you have any blogging rituals? I like to have snacks with me if I am working on a long post, otherwise I tend to listen to music in the background.
• How do you keep your blogging ideas organized? I used to keep a journal with blog/video ideas but now if a topic comes to mind, I will just sit down and start blogging.
• Do you have a blogging schedule for the week? Or the month? I don't have a schedule at this point. I blog when I want to and I post as many or as few times as I want to. There may be time periods where I blog three or four times a week and times where I only blog once a week, if that.
• If you review products, how do you keep track of what needs to be reviewed in your collection? 
• What do you do with all your "old" data? For now, everything is stored on my laptop. I would like to invest in an external hard drive because storing all these photos and raw video footage takes up a LOT of space on your computer. I will occasionally deleted old photos and videos but I would like to be able to keep everything in case my blog gets accidentally deleted.
• For fun, what beauty/non-beauty products do you need to have on hand near your blogging station? Honestly, like I said in a different questions, I keep snacks or drinks nearby.
